Linda Jones
Independent Consultant
Mission:
To contribute to changing the world – not exactly to create a utopia, but to eliminate systemic poverty and to care for the earth – I believe it is possible and I want to see it in my lifetime!

My career has been somewhat convoluted: from an academic with a PhD in Anthropology, to a business person for 10 years, and now combining the learning from those experiences to participate in the worldwide movement for change. I have been engaged in international microenterprise development for seven years as a practitioner, researcher, and trainer. Before becoming an independent consultant, I was with MEDA where my final role was Technical Director, International Operations. As a consultant, I offer strategic and tactical technical assistance to enterprise development organizations, field research and program design, capacity building, facilitation of learning programs, theoretical research and writing.I have been involved with the SEEP Network since entering the enterprise development field. I have been an active working group member, Chair of the Board of Directors, trainer and PLP facilitator. I am currently on the editorial board of the Enterprise Development and Microfinance Journal. I have published widely in the field of enterprise development (including EDM Journal, IJOEM, SEEP Network publications, MEDA publications) with a strong focus on marginalized communities including women, and on practical tools and approaches for value chain development. I am the facilitator for the Microenteprise Development Institute’s Pro-Poor Enterprise Development Track, an advisor to the Eurasia Foundation and Coady Institute, and a participant/contributor to a range of fora. I work hard because I believe that we can make difference.
