Standards for employment creation
Dear Friends
In my opinion very basis of employment creation, that is, suitable provision of education is key for succesful employment creation.
Both planners and students who would be future workforce is not aware about the market demands. Planner/administrator in partcular are having myopic vision. I would like to quote a very recent example. Education department of Chandigarh, India introduced some vocational courses in various schools at the level of class XI. Aim of initiating the vocational courses was to generate workforce for clerical sector. But the curriculum was so badly designed that soon these courses have lost sheen and there are not many takers for these courses.
There is another example. In the past few years in Punjab, Haryana and several other northen states of India introduced a course in Multi-purpose Health Workers with the vision that most of them would be accomodated in health sector as paramedical staff. Most of whom who have done this course are unemployed because demand of health sector is for better trained man power which is not fulfilled by MPHW.
There are several instances where improper education system fails to generate suitable workforce.
Indian politicians are myopic in their vision. Then can not see beyond periodic elections which are held every five years in country. All policies developed by them are shortlived and are aimed at attracting votes in coming election.
Under such scenario, private sector would have to exert a lot for providing suitable training to train suitable manpower
