Over the last 12+ years, I have worked in project design, development and management, and performance measurement in Africa, Central America and Asia. More recently, my work has also focused on microenterprise development (MED) within HIV/AIDS impacted communities, for example: managed a joint MEDA/DAI action research project for mitigating impacts of HIV/AIDS on microfinance institutions in Mozambique and authored and presented a paper on the project at the global microcredit summit in 2006; in addition, I have authored or contributed to four publications on the topic of MED in AIDS impacted communities.
My association with the SEEP Network started in 2004 and continues to date: I am currently co-facilitator of the SEEP Practitioner Learning Program on Building Alliances for HIV/AIDS Impacted Communities (BASICS PLP); co-facilitator of the HIV/AIDS and Microenterprise Development Working Group (HAMED); and have contributed to research and writing of the SEEP Guidelines for strengthening AIDS impacted communities with MED programs. I was honored by SEEP’s recognition of my contribution to member learning and dissemination in the HAMED working group in 2006.
I have a Masters degree in International Development Planning, a Postgraduate Certificate in Rural Regional Development Planning and a Bachelors degree in Rural Sociology and Arabic.
